The India based McCann Worldgroup took on the amazingly graceful mission to face all the problems regarding the environment and the crisis on our planet – that frankly we as inhabitants are causing each and every day. They have designed a series of illustrations that show in full detail the exact threats to the earth caused directly by reckless human activity.
The project is very appropriately named “Yin Yang”, but instead of showing the balance in the universe and on the planet specifically, (as is the meaning of this old Chinese symbol) it shows exactly everything that is out of balance and the growing distance between nature and human beings. Huge landscapes jammed up by limitless amount of cars, huge buildings and tons of garbage. And nature is reduced to its absolute minimum, damaged and on the verge of being destroyed.
The whole idea is to encourage people who see those images to rethink their methods and reinvent their lifestyle and their everyday way of life in order to get together and help save what’s left of our beautiful planet.
Or in their own words: “Yin Yang is a result of the same kind of belief and thought process. Everyday natural disasters and environmental hazards triggered the observation that the state of the environment is imbalanced. Hence the idea – “Bring back the balance” was born. To visually depict it, I used the popular Chinese symbol “Yin Yang”. The symbol represents the state of balance between two counterparts with a little bit in each.”
A massive project with a great cause and a very powerful message. Makes you think, doesn’t it?
