Tottori Sand Dunes

The Japanese Desert - 9 years ago by

Yes, it is strange, Japan is known for its humidity so what is a desert doing there? Well, the Tottori Sand Dunes are not technically a desert. They are too small, only 16x2 kilometers east of Tottori City. There are also way too many rainfalls. Nonetheless the sand dunes are quite real and a hot tourist destination, which will make you feel like you are indeed in a Japanese desert. The place is known for its sand boarding and very high temperatures, the ground can reach up to 65 degrees Celsius during the middle of the day, a perfect time to walk barefoot.
