The annual flower parade in the hometown of the great artsit will blow your mind - 8 years ago by

The colorful town of Zundert, Netherlands held their annual parade called the Corso Zundert in yet again there is only one way to properly describe it – out of this world. This marvelous display of beauty and celebration is filled with amazing flower floats that consists only of Dahlias. You just have to see it, to believe it. And we are going to do just that – show it to you.

Many of you might not know this, but Zundert is the home of one of the greatest artist in the history of the world – Vincent Van Gogh. And this year the Corso Zundert is all about the infamous master, as the whole parade’s theme is all about the work of Van Gogh. A total of 19 teams took the hard task of reinventing their beloved townsman’s state of art paintings, self-portraits and all kinds of motifs into their floats. This whole endeavor resulted in some spectacular floral celebrations of the incredibly poetic and masterfully done floats. I mean, come on, these were made only with flowers. And of course keeping the whole idea as close as they can to the ideals and tones of Van Gogh’s work, they made it as colorful and oddly shaped as they can.

It is really remarkable, how well those artists managed to translate in a way and reprise Van Gogh’s incredibly distinctive signature colorful swirls into those mesmerizing giant 3D forms with flowers, and just flowers, keeping an amazing balance and preserving the dynamics of the great artist. Just seeing how elegantly and yet so powerful those images look, how they portrayed that level of intensity in Van Gogh’s gaze and the complexity in the structure of this whole ensemble, really managed to show us that exceptional brilliance and struggle that went in Van Gogh’s mind. I can easily say that this is by far the most impressive and beautiful form of artistry I have seen in a long, long time.
