Ever since we were little kids we all enjoy and find something beautiful and special in an unlikely friendship. Movies like The Jungle Book and Lion King have made such a long lasting impression on us that we just love seeing scenarios like those in real life. Speaking of unlikely friendships, Finnish photographer Lassi Rautianen captured exactly that. A brown bear and a grey wolf that seem to have lost their families or packs somehow, somewhere along the way and act as though they are best friends and accompany and help each other in their journeys.

That’s definitely a sight you can’t normally see every day in the wild. For ten straight days Rautianen have followed and photographed the unusual duo as they spend a lot of time together – mostly at night between 8pm and 4am. They even share their food with each other. They hunt together. Just another perfect example of nature balancing itself showing that even in the wildest of environments there can be harmony amongst different species.

Lassi Rautianen said himself in an interview for the Daily Mail: “No one can know exactly why or how the young wolf and bear became friends. But I think that perhaps they were both alone when they were young and a bit unsure of how to survive alone. It seems to me that they feel safe being together. It is nice to share rare events in the wild that you would never expect to see."
