Rob Gonsalves is a Canadian painter, born in 1959 in Toronto, Canada. The style of his painting is called magic realism also known as fabulism. This is a style that encompasses a range of different concepts that share a common realism with magic or unreal elements as if they are a part of the real world. He developed this passion during his childhood while using his imagination. By the age of twelve, he started learning more about architecture and began drawing imaginary buildings.
When Rob Gonsalves had been introduced to the artists Dali and Tanguy, he started his surrealist paintings. After graduating the college, Gonsalves began working as a full-time architect, but continued to practice his passion – painting. He received exciting feedbacks in 1990 at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition and devoted all his time to painting.
Since then, Gonsalves received recognition all over the world including in his home country and the United States. Today, collectors around the world try their best to get one of his one-of-king magical realism paintings.
By now, Rob Gonsalves has 70 paintings, but he is constantly working on new ones. He spends a lot of time on each piece and usually produces one painting each year, which makes them really valuable.
