Meet Jacek Yerka. He is a Polish surrealist artist. He loves painting fantasy world landscapes, but his subjects vary from strange scary beasts to fanciful landscapes incorporating extraordinary architecture, including imagery from his childhood.
Jacek Yerka is from Torun, Poland. Born in 1952, Yerka’s work was exhibited in Poland, Germany, Monaco, France and the USA. You can also find many of his works in museums in Poland. He comes from an artistic family. Both his parents graduated from a local Fine Art Academy. He started painting with ink, papers, rubbers and brushes. As a child, Yerka also loved to draw and make sculptures.
Yerka started work as a full-time artist back in 1980, after he had several exhibitions in Warsaw. Yerka says: “For me, the 1950 were kind of Golden age… If I were, for instance, to paint a computer, it would definitely have a pre-war aesthetics to it”.
