Perks Of Going On A Solo Vacation

Traveling solo does not mean you are selfish or a loner. Sometimes people want to be left alone for a while, that's all. - 8 years ago by

People who choose to travel solo are not loners. They usually prefer to be by themselves because by doing so they are able to engage a bit deeper with the foreign place, exploring its landmarks and lifestyle. Admittedly, you cannot visit everything from the guidebook when you have to show consideration for the other people in the group.

Many men and women feel frightened about the idea of traveling alone. This is probably they are not aware that a solo trip can be a fulfilling experience. You would say that it is not safe to go out of the country only by yourself. Well, it depends on the place you are about to go. Moreover, traveling alone can be very enriching experience. We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us

Here are some of the numerous advantages you have as a solo traveler:

You control the budget

Traveling alone is usually cheaper than traveling within a group. When people go somewhere alone, they tend to spend far less money than on a family vacation. You make reservations in a cheap unpretentious hotel or lodge house, buy low class tickets, choose only the places that are on an affordable price.

You choose what place to visit and when

Solo travelers don't have to make compromises to anyone. Sometimes when you have to make arrangements and then new re-arrangements and rebooking, because of someone's last-minute changes in work schedule, that can be annoying. Or, there are always arguments before choosing what country to visit - whether it will be Turkey, Italy or Greece. When you are by yourself you wake up, eat and go for a walk anytime you want.

Absence sharpens love

It could be very refreshing to spend a vacation away from your family or your loved one. But don’t take every opportunity to run away from your wife and kids, because it will foster you an image of an immature and irresponsible father and husband. Going on a solo vacation is a perfect way to have a freedom independence and break out of your shell. It gives you the freedom to choose and do the things you want, whether it is lying on the beach or attending a play set in the local theater. Traveling alone forces you to open to the world and meet new people. After you come back to your partner you will be fully recharged with energy and positive feelings.

Befriending

There is always a good chance to meet some interesting and like-minded people and share enjoyable time together. Imagine, for example, that you were on a ski holiday in the French Alps. You would be staying in a hotel with a bar and a restaurant where hotel guests go to eat, have a drink and make new acquaintances. It may be unbelievable, but so many long-lasting friendships (even romantic relationships) have started with an innocent conversation in an elevator or a bar. Indeed, socializing is fun and it can be beneficial personally or professionally.

Visit all the destinations and interesting places included in your guidebook

As a thrill seeker try not to skip these destinations because they will bring an amazing experience and long-time memories. Look for any outdoor adventure. When in a foreign country, learn something about the local culture, art, cuisine; visit notable places like historical monuments, temples, churches, museums, parks.

Meeting with friends living in different country

When your travel course leads you through places where you have friends or relatives, this makes a great opportunity for you to meet them. What other chance will you have to see them unless it is now, so don't miss it. Why not have a cup of coffee with your childhood best friend who lives thousand kilometers away from your home country. This is the best way to reconnect with old friends (and old flames as well).
