Award-Winning Ocean Photographer Captures Breathtaking Half-Underwater Images

Mattew Smith is a notable international award-winning wildlife photographer born in the UK, who now lives in Australia. - 9 years ago by

Since an early age, he has found himself immensely attracted to nature and the oceans. Mattew Smith bought his first SLR camera as a teenager with the only purpose to capture images of the coastlines in his home country. It didn't take long until his desire for shooting nature sights and oceans grew stronger. As his curiosity kept arousing feeding his appetite for shooting, he decided to go further and shoot from underwater. Therefore, he bought waterproof equipment for his camera so to be able to explore the oceans from a different and far more interesting perspective.

As his photography skills advanced in time, he felt the need to expand his view of exploring different parts of the world. So he embarked on a travel and visited a number of countries. One of them is Australia, where he fell in love with the breathtakingly beautiful coastline of the Pacific. Eventually, in 2007, he left his home country, the UK, and moved to sunny Australia. There, he mastered his abilities to over/underwater images focusing on the aquatic life and showing its out-of-this-world  beauty.

His half-underwater photo project received huge success and popularity. Needless to say, only a photographer with a vision and unique talent can create such incredible composition. Very exciting work, worth the compliments!
